Supervisor Sarmiento -
Oral Re: Thanked OC Parks for assistance with Luis C. Garza
exhibit on display at the Old Orange County Courthouse;
thanked Bob Page, Registrar of Voters for preparing for a
proposed Special California Redistricting Election by the
legislature even though election has yet to be called;
expressed disappointment with court ordering restitution
amount for former Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do which is
not proportional to the harm he caused; concerned about
impacts of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE)
activities in the community and noted decrease in OCTA
ridership and increase in absenteeism at schools and
workplaces; requested the County Executive Office staff
conduct a year over year objective comparison of tax revenues
and costs and report findings to the Board at the September
9th Board meeting, if possible, and to advise Board if more
time is needed; requested the County join County of Los
Angeles and several Orange County cities to intervene in the
pending Pedro Vasquez lawsuit against Kristi Noem regarding
federal government conducting immigration enforcement in
violation of the constitution and due process rights or submit
a brief in support of relief; however, request was not
granted; will continue to support immigrant community, friends
and neighbors and protect due process and constitutional
rights. |
|
Supervisor Wagner - Oral
Re: Addressed the calling of a proposed Special California
Redistricting Election by the legislature; voiced opposition
of the Registrar preparing for an election that has yet to be
called and spending money on an election that may not be
reimbursed; County should not spend public funds until
promised repayment by the State of California; County would
not be violating laws by not spending money or not preparing
for an election that has not yet been called and will not
satisfy existing statutory deadlines; ex post facto
Constitutional violation |
