Vice Chair Foley - Oral Re: Update on Dana Point Harbor revitalization project and opening of the commercial core and approvals received for construction of two hotels; update on railroad stabilization project and Orange County Transportation Authority moving forward with Phases 1 and 2; coordinating with the Orange County Water District for sand source from Prado Dam; invited everyone to the 79th Annual Costa Mesa-Newport Harbor Lions Club Fish Fry on June 27-29, Costa Mesa Independence Day Community Celebration on July 3 and OC Fair "Find Your Happy" July 18 - August 17

 

Supervisor Nguyen - Oral Re: Working with Chairman's office to host Gun Buyback event in Garden Grove; received a letter complimentary of County staff at the Social Services Agency office; invited everyone to celebrate '50 years of the Vietnamese American Journey' at Mile Square Park August 15 - 17 and 4th of July Parade in Huntington Beach; sent letters to the California Attorney General and United States Department of Justice requesting an investigation into wrong doings related to 360 Clinics; directed County Counsel to retain all records related to Andrew Do’s time in office, review existing legal holds and place additional legal holds as necessary to preserve (1) all records related to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA); (2) all records created, generated, or sent from the First Supervisorial District during Andrew Do's time in County office (2015-2024), including, but not limited to, all records related to investigations and audits of County contracts; and (3) all emails sent from Andrew Do's known (public and private) email addresses to County email addresses since 2015

 

Supervisor Sarmiento - Oral Re: Shared video of Narciso Barranco who is a landscape business owner with no criminal record being violently detained by ICE agents wearing masks and no information identifying them as law enforcement; Mr. Barranco was in legal application process 'Parole in Place' when he was detained; mass deportations will cause significant economic impact with businesses closed and loss of sales tax revenue; Sheriff participated in mutual aid but has not made any arrests; $275 million impact as a result of mass deportations to the State; Orange and Los Angeles Counties are the only counties with National Guard staged in our communities

 

Chair Chaffee - Oral Re: Commended Jose Serrano, Director of Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs for providing resources and comfort during this difficult time and commended Sheriff staff for the restraint they have shown in handling legal aid matters; Gun Buyback Program; City of Fullerton hosted 10th annual "Day of Music" on June 21st; City of La Habra hosting 4th of July fireworks show at Bonita Park; future Leaders Program entering 3rd week where participants toured the Coroner's office, John Wayne Airport and Orange County Transportation Authority
