RECOMMENDED
ACTION(S):
Approve the proposed Conflict of
Interest Code and Designated Filer Exhibits for California Republic Leadership
Academy.
SUMMARY:
Approval of the proposed Designated
Filer Exhibits to the Conflict of Interest Code for California Republic
Leadership Academy will ensure County compliance with Fair Political Practices
Commission regulations.
BACKGROUND
INFORMATION:
Charter schools are public schools
and, therefore, fall under the same criteria as any school district. California Republic Leadership Academy took
formal action to approve their Conflict of Interest Code (Code) and Designated
Filer Exhibits. The Board of Supervisors
(Board) are the code reviewing body for California Republic Leadership Academy
and for other similar local agencies within its geographical jurisdiction.
California Republic Leadership Academy is
required to adopt a Code and designate positions and disclosure categories for
individuals who make or participate in the making of governmental decisions
that may foreseeably have a material financial effect on a financial
interest. Therefore, California Republic
Leadership Academy is required by Government Code Section 87300 to adopt a Code
and pursuant to Government Code Section 87303, the Board must (1) approve the
proposed Code, (2) revise and approve the revised Code or (3) return the
proposed Code for revision and resubmittal within 60 days. It conforms to statutory and regulatory
requirements and meets the Board’s policy to utilize the state Model Code. A copy of the proposed Designated Filer
Exhibits are attached.
