Santiago Library System for patron internet service provider fees.
SUMMARY:
Accepting the funding award from
the Santiago Library System will help fund the provision of internet services
at OC Community Resources/OC Public Libraries branches for patron use.
BACKGROUND
INFORMATION:
OC Community Resources/OC Public
Libraries (OCCR/OCPL) is one of 11 Orange County member libraries that are part
of the state-funded Santiago Library System network. The 11 members of the
Santiago Library System include: Anaheim Public Library, Buena Park Public
Library, Fullerton Public Library, Huntington Beach Public Library, Mission
Viejo Public Library, Newport Beach Public Library, OCCR/OCPL, Orange Public
Library, Placentia Public Library, Santa Ana Public Library and Yorba Linda
Public Library; the Orange County Public Law Library is an associate member.
The Santiago Library System is one
of nine California cooperative library systems charged with administering
programs, services and distribution of funds. California public libraries
engage in cooperative efforts through these systems and receive funding
designed to assist and encourage interlibrary cooperation to help facilitate
the sharing of local library collections. Members receive funds disbursed under
the California Library Services Act (CLSA) from the California State Library
for communication and delivery services, advocacy support and internet
services. Each year, the Santiago Library System distributes funding allocated
under CLSA to its members according to a formula based on population.
The funding provided by CLSA to the
Santiago Library System is used to provide Electronic Resources and/or Library
Broadband to communities.
