RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

Authorize the OC Community Resource Director or designee to accept a monetary donation not to exceed $30,000 from the Angelo Madrigal Living Trust for the Fountain Valley Branch Library. |

SUMMARY:
Accepting the donations from the Angelo Madrigal Living Trust for the Fountain Valley Branch Library and from the Judy Saxon Trust for the Aliso Viejo Branch Library will help provide library materials and services to the public.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Under Government Code Section 25355 and the Board of Supervisors (Board) Resolution No. 93-1235, OC Community Resources (OCCR) is required to notify the Board when charitable donations are received from organizations, groups, businesses and the general public, in excess of $10,000.
OCCR/OC Public Libraries (OCPL) was named as a beneficiary in the Angelo Madrigal Living Trust for the Fountain Valley Branch Library for up to $30,000 and the Judy Saxon Living Trust for the Aliso Viejo Branch Library in an amount up to $15,000.
Upon the Board’s authorization to accept the donation, OCPL will work with the Trustees of the Trusts to complete the transfer of the donated funds. Funds will be used on library resources, programming and/or capital projects at the Fountain Valley and Aliso Viejo Libraries, in support of OCPL mission and vision.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The donations from the Angelo Madrigal and the Judy Saxon Trusts will be absorbed within the revenue budgeted in Fund 120, OCPL FY 2021-22 Budget.
