RECOMMENDED
ACTION(S):
Approve the proposed Conflict of
Interest Code and Designated Filer Exhibits for International School for
Science and Culture.
SUMMARY:
Approval of the proposed Designated
Filer Exhibits to the Conflict of Interest Code for International School for
Science and Culture will ensure County compliance with Fair Political Practices
Commission regulations.
BACKGROUND
INFORMATION:
Charter schools are public schools
and, therefore, fall under the same criteria as any school district. International School for Science and Culture
took formal action to approve their Conflict of Interest Code (Code) and Designated
Filer Exhibits. The Board of Supervisors
(Board) are the code reviewing body for International School for Science and
Culture and for other similar local agencies within its geographical
jurisdiction.
International School for Science and
Culture is required to adopt a Code and designate positions and disclosure
categories for individuals who make or participate in the making of
governmental decisions that may foreseeably have a material financial effect on
a financial interest. Therefore, International
School for Science and Culture is required by Government Code Section 87300 to
adopt a Code and pursuant to Government Code Section 87303, the Board must (1)
approve the proposed Code, (2) revise and approve the revised Code or (3)
return the proposed Code for revision and resubmittal within 60 days. It conforms to statutory and regulatory
requirements and meets the Board’s policy to utilize the state Model Code. A copy of the proposed Designated Filer
Exhibits are attached.
