RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

Approve and adopt the 2019 regular meeting schedule for the Board of Supervisors and other legal entities under the jurisdiction of the Board as outlined in Attachments A and B. |

Direct Clerk of the Board to publish public notification as required and to advise all county departments of the meeting schedule and submission dates for agenda items. |
SUMMARY:
Approval and adoption of the 2019 schedule for regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors and other entities under its jurisdiction that hold meetings concurrently with the regular Board of Supervisors meetings will establish the official 2019 Board of Supervisors calendar.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On February 9, 2016, your Board approved a meeting schedule setting the timing of regular 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning meetings to occur on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month and holding in reserve the third Tuesday of the month for closed session and/or special meetings.
The proposed 2019 Board of Supervisors regular meeting schedule has been prepared accordingly with a few exceptions, as follows:
· January will hold meetings on the second and fifth Tuesday to avoid holding a meeting on the Tuesday following a holiday.
· February will hold meetings on the first and fourth Tuesday to avoid scheduling a meeting that falls on a holiday and to avoid holding a meeting on the Tuesday following a holiday.
· May will hold meetings on the first and third Tuesday to avoid holding a meeting on the Tuesday following a holiday.
· The first Tuesday in June has been added as an additional regular meeting date due to the increased volume of items requiring Board approval prior to the fiscal year end.
· July meetings will be held on the third and fifth Tuesday to provide a two week break at the beginning of the month.
· November will hold meetings on the first and fourth Tuesday to avoid holding a meeting on the Tuesday following a holiday and during Thanksgiving week.
· December will hold meetings on the second and third Tuesday to accommodate Board member attendance at the California State Association of Counties annual conference during the first week of December and to avoid scheduling a meeting falling on Christmas Eve.
Attachment A is the proposed 2019 Board of Supervisors regular meeting schedule and Attachment B lists the other entities and authorities where the Board of Supervisors sits as the legislative body that conducts meetings concurrently with the Board of Supervisors’ regular meetings.
