RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
Authorize OC Public Libraries to accept a donation in the amount of $10,000 from the Friends of the Dana Point Library to purchase books and materials for children, teens and adults.
SUMMARY:
Authorization to accept the donation from the Friends of the Dana Point Library in the amount of $10,000 will enhance the books and material collection in the Dana Point Branch Library.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Friends of the Dana Point Library (FOL) operates a bookstore, holds fundraisers and solicits donations to provide funding, reading material and program support to the Dana Point Library. The donation will be used to enhance the book and materials collection at the Dana Point Library.
The FOL donation supports the continued enhancement of the Dana Point Library. The library provides educational, informational and recreational books and materials for community members of all ages. Accepting the donation in the amount of $10,000 from the FOL will enhance the books and materials collection at the Dana Point Library.
On May 8, 2018, the Board authorized OC Community Resources/OC Public Libraries to accept a donation in the amount of $24,975 from the FOL to offset the cost of installing sound absorbing material in the Dana Point Library Community Room. This project is currently being managed by OC Community Resources staff.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Revenue for this donation will be absorbed in the FY 2018-19 Budget.
