RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

 

 

1.

Approve and authorize the Sheriff-Coroner or designee to execute, on behalf of the County of Orange, the License for Nonfederal Use of Real Property (License Number L-08-09-2011) regarding the Sheriff-Coroner's use of the ranges and training facilities on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

 

2.

Approve and authorize the execution of the Hold Harmless and Indemnity Agreement regarding the Sheriff-Coroner's use of the ranges and training facilities on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

 

 

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Sheriff-Coroner requests approval of the no-cost license agreement and hold harmless/indemnity agreement with the U.S Department of the Navy for use of various facilities at Camp Pendleton for training purposes.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

 

The Sheriff has requested the use of the ranges and training facilities at Camp Pendleton for training purposes for the Sheriff's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.  The U.S. Department of the Navy has agreed to allow the Sheriff's SWAT Team to use the facilities at no cost, pursuant to the proposed license agreement.  The U.S. Department of the Navy has required that the County execute a Hold Harmless and Indemnity Agreement to indemnify and hold harmless the federal government from any claims resulting from the Sheriff's use of the facilities.
