Authorize the Purchasing Agent or designee to renew Price Agreement N1000007205 as N2000007205 with Great Scott Tree Service, Inc. for annual tree maintenance services at various County locations under the same terms, conditions and scope of work commencing on May 10, 2007 and in effect through May 9, 2008 in an amount not to exceed $725,000 per Board policy.

SUMMARY:

In accordance with Board of Supervisors' policy for service contract renewals, the Resources and Development Management Department (RDMD)/Operations & Maintenance Division recommends that the Board of Supervisors authorize the second year of a three year service contract with Great Scott Tree Service for tree maintenance services at various county locations.  RDMD evaluated service levels and determined they are satisfactory and current market conditions warrant renewal of this contract.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Board of Supervisors approved the first year of a three year tree maintenance program in March 2006 that includes trimming street trees for vehicle and pedestrian clearance, flood control right-of-way trimming and tree removals.  Emergency work such as removal of hanging limbs and downed trees is also included.  Locations will be countywide in unincorporated areas owned by the County of Orange, Orange County Flood Control District, Harbors, Beaches and Parks and in the following contracted cities served by the County:  Laguna Hills, Lake Forest and Laguna Woods.

This contract includes a performance bond which is 100% of the annual contract amount.  The vendor agrees to provide the requested service for the annual contract without exceeding the budgeted amount of $ 725,000.

A copy of the proposed price agreement is on file in the office of the Clerk of the Board.

COMPLIANCE WITH CEQA: The proposed project is Categorically Exempt (Class 1) from the provisions of CEQA pursuant to Section 15301 (Maintenance of Existing Facilities) of the CEQA Guidelines.
