RECOMMENDED ACTION(S)
1. Authorize the Purchasing Agent to issue Price Agreement N1000007589 with Range
Maintenance Services LLC, for lead remediation at the Sheriff's shooting ranges, for the
period of March 7, 2006 through May 31, 2006, in an amount not to exceed $64,350.
2. Authorize the Purchasing Agent, without further Board action, to exercise a contingency
contract cost increase, not to exceed a total of 10 percent of the contract amount for the
entire term of the contract, including renewals, and within the scope of work set forth in the
contract. The use of this contingency contract cost increase is subject to approval
requirements established by the Board of Supervisors pursuant to Minute Order dated
August 5, 2003, for Agenda Item 27 and County policies and procedures.
SUMMARY:
The Sheriff-Coroner requests authorization for the Purchasing Agent to issue Price Agreement N1000007589 with Range Maintenance Services LLC, for lead remediation at the Sheriff's shooting ranges, for the period of March 7, 2006 through May 31, 2006, in an amount not to exceed $64,350.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Sheriff's Training Division requires lead remediation at the Sheriff's Katella Training Facility shooting ranges. The project will include removal of copper jackets and lead material from bullet trap material (rubber media) and returning the bullet trap areas to factory specifications. The contractor will complete the scope of work in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations, and all decontamination procedures will be in compliance with CAL OSHA and EPA hazardous waste laws. The contractor will credit the County the fair market monetary value of all material removed and sold for recycling.
A total of 195 vendors were notified of this competitive bid process. Nine vendors requested bid packages, and three responsive and responsible bids were received. Based on a review of the bids received, it was determined that the lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Range Maintenance Services LLC, in the amount of $64,350.
A 10% contract cost contingency is requested due to the slight possibility of additional unforeseen work that could be required after the rubber media is removed.
The Sheriff-Coroner requests authorization to issue a price agreement to Range Maintenance Services LLC as referenced in the Recommended Actions.
