CEO & BOARD COMMENTS
BOARD
COMMENTS:
|
Vice Chair Foley - Oral
Re: Invited Hunger Action Alliance to discuss pressure on
local food banks and food pantries facing strain on resources
due to SNAP program funding delay and uncertainty on when
funding will be restored, and the need for support for Orange
County's charitable food network; reminded everyone to
nominate a veteran for Fifth District's Annual Veterans of the
Year Awards honor event to be held on November 12 at 6pm at
Heroes Hall Museum, Costa Mesa |
|
Supervisor Sarmiento -
Oral Re: CalOptima is also considering ways to support SNAP
recipients until funding is restored; changes in federal
funding and legislative changes for Continuums of Care create
serious risk of housing instability to many who have
successfully exited homelessness, and directed Health Care
Agency, Social Services Agency and OC Community Resources to
collaborate with Office of Care Coordination to prioritize
available resources and alternative funding sources to prevent
households from re-entering homelessness; and reminded
everyone it is Election Day and encouraged everyone to vote |
|
Supervisor Nguyen - Oral
Re: Reminded everyone it is Election Day and encouraged
everyone to vote; thanked Chair Chaffee and Supervisor
Sarmiento for co-hosting an anonymous Gun Buyback event taking
place at the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center on November
8th from 10am - 3pm |
|
Chair Chaffee - Oral Re:
Announced new website for unclaimed property through
Auditor-Controller's website 'OCUnclaimed.gov'; shared video
with information related to the Anonymous Gun Buy-Back Event;
and announced Holiday Food Distribution Event taking place at
the Fullerton Free Church on November 22nd from 9am - 12pm |
