Supervisor Sarmiento - Oral Re: California Welfare Director's Association informed Social Services Agency that CalFresh benefits for November could be delayed due to government shutdown; call 2-1-1 if compromised due to lack of support and in need of resources, and visit District 2 website for information on food banks and pantries; CalOptima's October 16th Special Meeting and investigation into Andrew Do's activities; investigation report by Byrd Morella will be released on Thursday and CalOptima Board directed counsel to provide notice to those that were included in the report as witnesses and individuals who may want to challenge or need to file a writ; requested Office of Campaign Finance and Ethics Commission take the updated Code of Ethics policy to the Ethics Commission for their review and input for additional enforcement mechanisms that might be necessary to prevent future misconduct to ensure policy is followed; invited everyone to two events to be held celebrating Dia de los Muertos in Santa Ana on November 1

 

Vice Chair Foley - Oral Re: No benefits will be issued on SNAP EBT cards in November 1; impacts to government shutdown including local economy; requested the County Executive Officer send 'Call to Action' flyer for collection of shelf-stable foods to support families across the County who are losing access to government assistance programs like SNAP; call 2-1-1 if in need of resources; announced the Fifth District Annual Veterans of the Year Awards honor event to be held on November 12 at 6pm at Heroes Hall Museum, Costa Mesa

 

Supervisor Wagner - Oral Re: Call 2-1-1 if in need of resources due to government shutdown; welcomed former Orange County Board of Supervisor Chris Norby; recognized OC Public Works operations and maintenance employees Shawn Jones, Cesar Siqueiros, Abel Banuelos, and Marcos Antunez with a Recognition of Heroism for their courage and public service when responding to an accident near Cook's Corner on October 6; they demonstrated extraordinary bravery, teamwork and dedication while responding to a life-threatening emergency
