Vice Chair Foley - Oral Re: Congratulated John Wayne Airport for being recognized as North America's favorite large airport for the second consecutive year by J.D. Powers; OC Public Works BESS facilities ordinance governing specific development and building requirements passed by the Board in March and Orange County Planning Commission passed an amendment to the zoning code that outlines the regulations; inaugural meeting of the South County Beach Coalition was held to break the bureaucratic slowing down of sand delivery to our beaches; invited everyone to the Senior Summit on October 10, 9am - 1pm at Aliso Viejo Park, Aliso Viejo and Ice Cream Social on September 30 at 5pm at Killer Dana Surf Shop, Dana Point; thanked everyone who donated gowns for the Irvine 211 Marine Battalion Marine Ball; is collecting new coats for kids which will be donated for the New Coats for Kids Coat Drive

 

Supervisor Nguyen - Oral Re: Acknowledged and expressed sadness regarding the tragedy took place a few weeks ago; stated politically motivated violence of any kind is unacceptable and freedom of speech must be protected and thanked Sheriff Don Barnes for reaffirming the Sheriff Department's efforts to protect citizens engaging in exercising their constitutional rights and peaceful participation in civil discourse; joining her colleagues to call upon CalOptima to release internal investigation on Andrew Do's activities while he served on CalOptima; thanked Nancy Cook and her team at OC Workforce and Economic Development Division and OC Parks for a successful Workforce & Economic Development Career Fair; invited everyone to the 13th Annual OC Free Health Expo on October 26, 9am - 2pm at Freedom Hall, Mile Square Park and Pet Adoption Expo on October 11, 10am - 1pm at Freedom Hall, Mile Square Park

 

Supervisor Sarmiento - Oral Re: Forensic audit directive regarding Andrew Do and CalOptima; working with UC Irvine School of Ecology regarding an economic impact survey to address impacts, needs and relief for the business community in our County; his office will be working with the County Executive Office to develop more comprehensive, user-friendly webpage that will clearly list and connect people to services throughout the County such as housing assistance, County services, etc.

 

Chair Chaffee - Oral Re: Attended Mobility 21 2025 Summit 'Power of Partnership' and participated in roundtable to discuss expansion and improving public transit in Orange County; successful Fishing Derby held on September 20 at Tri-City Park, Placentia and thanked OC Parks staff for their help and County agencies for participating in the event; thanked Orange County Employees Association for providing their hot dog wagon; Community Bike Ride to raise cancer awareness will be held on September 27 at Tri-City Park, Placentia and cancer screenings will be provided; directed County Executive Office to reach out to and review the Transportation Corridor Agency process for on-call procurement process
