SUMMARY:
Declaring elected to each office the candidates with the highest number of votes and receiving the certified Statement of Votes Cast for the Presidential General Election held on November 3, 2020, will support compliance with Elections Code Sections 15372 and 15400.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Elections Code Section 15372 requires the Registrar of Voters to submit to the Board of Supervisors (Board) a certified statement of the results of the election within 30 days of the election.
Elections Code Section 15400 requires the Board to declare elected or nominated the candidates at each election under its jurisdiction who receive the highest number of votes. For the November 3, 2020, Presidential General Election, the offices under the Board's jurisdiction are: Orange County Supervisor, 1st District.
Candidates for federal, state and other local offices are declared elected by their respective governing bodies.
